The pleated filter layer has an outside skeleton which protects the filter layer and distributes the incoming fluid over the filter layer evenly. The interior of the skeleton is composed of support layers and a filter layers.

The filtration layer is composed of multi-layer filter papers. Each of filtration layer has different filtering accuracy. Also the outside skeleton can protect the filter layer away from mechanical damage.
